Jomon Snow Hike

The Jomon culture at the Snow Country had been sustained for ten thousand years until around the third century B.C. with the background of the growth of deciduous broadleaf trees at the inland and basin along the Shinano River. Living with the forest for such a long time, the people of the Jomon period created the unique, world-renowned “flame-shaped clay pots”. The advanced skill for the complicated form, that is exclusively observed in this area, tells of their highly developed mentality. This is the source of wisdom in the Snow Country passed on to today.
Jomon Snow Hike takes you to a Jomon hut by walking through the snow field with a guide. The hut that appears ahead of the field is covered with snow that is as tall as 2-3m, as if being a large igloo. A fire is made inside of it that may make you feel warmer than you probably thought. Please take your time arond the fire and imagine the old life in Jomon period.

Walking in the forest where the Jomo people also probably walked. This is a course with a gently rolling hill, easy to walk.
