|The techniques of Mikawachi ware has been passed down through the generations for 400 years from the Hirado clan kiln. One of the most well known patterns are the karako pictures of Chinese children. The number of children depicted in the picture depended on the use of the piece, such as gifts for the feudal lord or as offerings.
